Welcome to Nelson Bay Golf Club, where community lies at the heart of everything we do. Embracing our role as a cornerstone of the local area, we actively support a range of community initiatives. We take pride in our commitment to supporting various community endeavours and fostering a vibrant community spirit.

Our annual major charity golf days are:

  • Angel Billy – Westpac Helicopter Rescue Service
  • Tomaree Breast Cancer Charity Golf Day
  • Ovarian Cancer Day
  • Family of League

Nelson Bay Golf Club was announced as the prestigious Clubs NSW Club & Community Awards—Environmental Sustainability winner.

The Award recognises a club’s dedication to environmental sustainability as evidenced by the implementation of improvements, projects, or initiatives that demonstrate significant real or potential benefits to the environment.

Our submission showcased the Club’s work for the environment in our community. It included our Course Maintenance team’s work using Nanobubble technology and hybrid machinery, our Course Volunteers’ work for our gardens, renewable paths, and recycling initiatives, and our work with Port Stephens Koala Hospital in rehoming injured koalas and our Kangaroo Tours.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers, supporters, members and staff who have worked very hard on these programs. We look forward to continuing to support our community and working on more environmental sustainability practices in the future.

Volunteer Program

Our Volunteer program was set up to support our Greenskeepers and Course maintenance staff. Nelson Bay Golf Club has over 80 gardens on the course, comprising native flora species.  Our Volunteers help maintain these gardens and build sustainable pathways.

Our volunteers have operated a program through the NSW Government’s ‘Return and Earn’ scheme, recycling over 300,000 bottles and cans from the clubhouse and the course bins. This has funded the building of a potting shed to house tools and equipment, the construction of shade houses, and an irrigation system to propagate plants gathered from the bushland.
